Formal tea parties
arenâ??t for everyone, but I sure enjoyed them when I was a little girl. Back
then I didnâ??t take it to the point of sending out tea party
invitations or getting dressed up; I just gathered my stuffed animals and
dolls around my little table so I could share my cups of tea with them.
One form of tea
party that has become quite popular is called high tea. Normally held at about
four in the afternoon, this event consists of tasty finger sandwiches, rich
sweet pastries and, of course, a variety of hot teas in decorative teapots and
served in exquisitely delicate china teacups. Aside from the affairâ??s
delicious culinary attributes, the high tea rite seems to also bring out an air
of sophistication among its attendees.
Originating
in England, this traditional event is still practiced on many cruise ships
around the world, which is only natural because of the emphasis on food and
drink so prevalent on these floating banquet halls. But you can find high teas
in other unexpected places, too â?? like at the rose garden of the Huntington
Hartford Library museum in Pasadena, California.
